Katelyn Joyce- Reflection on the Course

I signed up for the class for two reasons. I needed a writing intensive credit this semester to be able to graduate in December, but I also wanted an excuse to dive more into the writings of C.S. Lewis. I had read the Screwtape Letters years ago and it completely transformed my view of Christian writing. I was able to recognize it was fiction, but also draw out important lessons and truths and apply them to how I went about my daily life. It promoted so much growth within me. These lessons did not stop with my reading of the Screwtape Letters years ago. This class allowed me to dive deeper into these texts and derive even more lessons than I could have predicted. I was given the tools to think critically as well as with an open mind. This led me to not only read the required texts out of necessity, but out of curiosity for what I was to learn next. These texts left me with questions I was able to sit and reflect on in my own time. These blog posters were super beneficial as I not only given the space to fully process what I had been learning, but also grapple with it further and ask more in depth questions. The research paper also encouraged me to investigate my questions even further than I probably would have on my own time and for that I am very thankful. I am leaving this class with a better understanding of myth as it relates to truth and reality.
