Zack Olander - Till We Have Faces Creative Writing Assignment

The old queen Orual received one final vision, after having considered, but not accepted, her own faults. She was wide awake, but she did not see the world she inhabited. She didn't know at this point what to expect.

She saw swirling and colorful lights, primarily strobing dark reds, and a big booming voice which resounded:

"It is I, Zackeles, sovereign god of bad decisions and sick heavy metal riffs, patron of the heshin' kvlt necro horror freaks, lord of leather jackets, suzerain of studs and spikes, baron of blast beats, herald of headbanging, monarch of the mosh pit, count of crowd surfing, duke of death growl vocals, crusher of wimps and poseurs, lover of the trve, etc., etc...

You, Orual are being judged for your fell deeds. You have committed the crime of manipulating your sister by means of threatening murder-suicide, an action that is most definitely not trve heshin' headbanging heavy metal. You have been possessive of her, which has been long considered a capital offense against the heavy metal freedom of your kin. Not only did you do these heinous acts, you even heard myths spun after your sister Psyche's ascension to goddesshood and still ignored their lesson and refused to own up to the failings of your character and improve yourself, which I, the god of bad decisions who looks kindly upon people who strive toward self-improvement, do not approve of in any sense of the word.

You, Orual, are to be judged forthwith as a poseur, and will be sentenced to have to listen to 80's synthy pop music on repeat for the remainder of your days. Consider yourself lucky, for I have spared you of the condemnation to the Endless Marshes of Lame Mosh Pits in the afterlife, a fate truly worse than death."

With that, Orual awoke from her vision, completely confused and not entirely sure what any of the speech was talking about. She decided that it still sounded ominous and started to consider that maybe she needed to reevaluate her attitude about the gods and her sister, and maybe that she was indeed a poseur, whatever that was...

Comments

  1. Zackeles the Merciful, who foregoes exile to the Land of Lame Moshers even for the ones who truly deserve it. May Orual learn to slam with a spirit of comradery, and not bring division upon the heshers with her animosity.
