Danielle Hawkins: To spare or not
I, goddess Danielle, come to witness your complaint sent against the gods. My house, where my people worship and make sacrifices to me, lies in the land of Chesapeake. I am know to bring my people much joy and laughter. The sacrifices I acquire of my people consists of chicken nuggets, bopping tunes, and Christmas socks. My people can bring daily sacrifices a time of sunset. The celebration of me takes place once a year, during the second month and ninth day. It lasts for a weeks time and celebrations take place during the hours of noon day till dawn. Much feasting occurs as I have blessed the land my people cultivate. I have heard you name, Orual. It has been thrown around the courts the moment you breathed you first breath. The goddess Ungit (you know much about her, as your land sacrifices much to her) was appalled that a creature like your self could be bore in her own land. She could not stop bringing your name up, so I have heard much about you. Ungit only desires beauty, so I embarked on a search of your heart. I know of your days spent with your sister playing by the well. You two were the bestest of friends. It did not matter that your looks were lesser than hers. Your heart made up for where your looks failed you. I was rooting for you and trying to get Ungit to look at you differently, but she would not budge. All was well, until your mother passed. That is where your heart stated to change. Then enter Fox, the greek. The man who knows no reverence for us gods. His life was spared for your own sake. I saw how he challenged you and helped shape your life and convinced Ungit to spare him. Soon after your dreadful father bore another child. Psyche became your obsession. Poor Redival. You pushed her away. You caused her to become selfish and sneaky. Her heart was troubled with the loss of your friendship and to cope she befriended Batta, she has always been a fool and against us gods. You saw an opportunity to make Psyche everything you had hoped to be. Do you remember her dream of the place on the mountain? You laughed at it. You saw it as silly. This, child, is your fault in your argument against us gods. You claim that we stole her away from you, when really you never had her in the first place. You had an idea of Psyche in your mind and it was never real. Do you see how you wronged her? You never let her dream or experience life without you. That is why she went into town with you. You smothered her. Redival came to resent Psyche because of you. Do you remember the night before Psyche was sacrificed? Redival visited her moments before you. Her jealously came out during that enounter. Psyche realized that you had replaced Redival with herself. Redival confessed her gladness in Psyche's removal from Glome. Jealously runs deep in your family line. It was broken in Psyche though. I am sorry that you lost your sister though, both of them. Your heart hardened even more once Psyche was taken to the mountain. Then you went and spoiled the poor girl's dream. You could not stand seeing her dreams and desires come to life outside of you. You think little of the character of Redival, when you both are similar. The tale that the temple priest from Essur was meant to show you that the two of you are cut from the same cloth, but your own selfish desires made you turn a blind eye to his proposal. If only you had used that critical thinking I know Fox helped you cultivate. Although Psyche was gone, you could have made amends with Redival, but you also let her slip from your fingers and then you blame us for all this. The suffering could have been avoided, but here you are, standing in front of us gods, waiting for your verdict. Although I see the mistakes you have made, I have seen much worse people have a turn of heart. This requires much patience. You are guilty, but your life is spared and I want to extend an offer to live amongst my lands, on one condition. You have to learn how to see people as they are and learn to live with your self as you are. My courts have been known to bring healing to people. I bid you the best and hope your fate is one that is filled with many blessings.
